Tasting notes :
Colour : brilliant golden hue.
Nose : opens with a refined, complex rancio character, marked by notes of walnut, hazelnut, and almond. Aromas of orange peel and sweet spices emerge next, accompanied by hints of toffee.
Palate : the attack is full-bodied and precise, supported by lovely natural sweetness. The rancio notes reveal finesse and balance. Well-integrated tannins provide an elegant structure, featuring nuances of licorice and a subtly vanilla-tinged oak character.
Cru : Fins Bois. Terroir : a blend from one plot in
Chermignac (Charente-maritime) and another in
Vaux-Rouillac (Charente).
Grape variety : Ugni blanc.
Ageing : Harvest and distillation in 1976, both Cognac began ageing in old oak casks; in 2025, 15 % was transferred to glass demijohns, while the remaining 85 %—transferred five years earlier into new 110-liter casks—continued maturation until the final blend.
Natural cask strength : 59,4 % ABV.
Vintage 1976 : after a relatively mild winter, spring arrived with increasingly dry conditions, and a rainfall deficit that intensified from May onwards. The summer was marked by exceptional drought and consistently high temperatures throughout the season. Significant water stress was observed in the vineyard, limiting vine vigor and berry growth. Storms were rare and insufficient to compensate for the lack of water. The harvest took place in hot, dry conditions, yielding small grapes with excellent natural concentration.
